WHAT IS SEER?

SEER is an abbreviation for season energy efficiency rating and is a measure of how efficient a unit operates. A 13 SEER product for example would be more efficient than a 10 SEER unit.

WHAT IS A 2 STAGE GAS VALVE?

It is a valve that meters gas into your furnace and it has two stages; a high stage and a low stage.

HOW MUCH WILL A 13 SEER A/C SAVE ME OVER MY CURRENT SYSTEM?

Typically most of the older units we replace have ratings of 8-10 SEER, so you could expect savings in the 30-40% range on your cooling bill.

WHAT IS A GEOTHERMAL HEAT PUMP?

It is a heat pump that uses ground instead of outside air to provide heating, cooling and in some cases hot water.

Can I reduce energy costs by replacing an older commercial HVAC system?
Yes, but make sure you keep clearance for proper airflow..

CAN I PLACE PLANTS AROUND MY OUTDOOR UNIT?
Replacing an old, inefficient HVAC system doesn't need to be a financial burden. It can be a company's chance to cut energy costs. Engineers have a much better understanding of the heating and cooling demands on commercial buildings. New HVAC designs waste less energy and less money.

Why should I perform preventive maintenance?
Heating and cooling systems work incredibly hard to perform their functions for your household. The constant stopping, starting and continual operation can wear down a machine quickly and unexpectedly if the proper care and maintenance is delayed. However, by performing preventive maintenance, or servicing your system regularly, you can maximize the lifecycle of your heating or cooling unit and guard against many unexpected failures Preventive maintenance inspections performed on a regular basis can uncover leaks, rust, rot, soot, frayed wires and corroded electrical contacts.

What is the most efficient way to run my heating and cooling system?
Here are several tips to help you keep your system running at its most efficient level:

1. Keep your thermostat at a constant temperature, the recommended temperature is 78?, even when no one is home.
2. Change your filters every month.
3. Check the outside condensing unit regularly for any grass clippings or leaves stuck to the coil. If it is dirty:
4. Disconnect the power at the circuit breaker FIRST!
5. Spray water from a garden hose through the coil until the water passing through it is clear.
6. Turn the power back on.
7. Have the unit serviced every spring by a licensed service company.

How are the sizing capacities of heating and cooling systems measured?
The heating and cooling systems are sized according to their tonnage. One (1) ton equals 12,000 BTU/H. Residential systems can range from 1 to 5 tons..

What size HVAC system should I have?
Contrary to popular belief there, is no rule of thumb for sizing a system to a home. Depending upon the construction of your home, one (1) ton of air conditioning can cool anywhere from 300 to 800 square feet of home. The only way to insure the size of the system you purchase will be large enough to cool your home, but not any larger than you need, is to have your home's individual heating and cooling needs evaluated by a licensed professional.

What are the advantages of a programmable thermostat?
Different programmable thermostats offer many different features. However, because they are electronic, they are all more accurate and efficient than thermostats that contain mercury. With programmable thermostats you can control the temperature in your home at different times of day without ever touching your thermostat. Because everything is automatic, you will never forget to change the setting on your own..

Why are humidifiers used more in heating than cooling?
When cool outdoor air enters a home it tends to dry out as it warms up, which increases the static electricity in the home and causes sinus problems. Adding a humidifier with help to add moisture back into the air and limit sinus problems. In the summer, even with outdoor relative humidity hovering around the single digits, the humidity in your home tends to be around 40%. The average comfort range for relative humidity in a home is from 35 to 45%.
